The Communist Party of Canada (Ontario) stands in full solidarity with the 1480 members of USW Local 7135, who are on strike at National Steel Car. The Communist Party stands in full solidarity with the 250 workers at Windsor Salt who have been on strike since February 17th. The Ford government’s new strikebreaking legislation aimed at education workers is an unprecedented assault on workers’ living standards and labour rights. The government is attempting to use brute force to crush the lowest paid education workers as part of their broader corporate agenda to drive down all workers’ wages in order to facilitate privatization and corporate profits. The broadest solidarity and escalating action is needed now to defeat this attack.
The strikes by 43,000 construction workers across Ontario is an indication that there is a growing restlessness among this section of the organized labour movement. The Communist Party stands in full solidarity with all workers currently on strike to maintain wages and living standards.
